After 30+ years keeping aquariums, it's time to sell, but I need some advice.

I have a well established 125 that in a perfect world a buyer would hand me a wad of cash, back their truck up and haul everything away. Short of that, if I end up parting it out, what's the best way to sell off corals, fish, LR, etc? Should I keep the corals attached to the LR and sell it as a 'package deal? My guess is parting it out is more likely to get responses, but I don't want the hassle of having 73 buyers show up and pick/choose what they want and have this take weeks/months to sell.

How do I price everything individually? I'm not looking to make a ton of money, but don't want to screw myself or the buyer, but sell it off as quickly as possible.

I didn't want to post a list of everything since at this point I'm looking for advice.

I did spend a bit of time searching in the forums, but never saw anything that was of any help.

Thanks.

Make a list of what you have. Compare to either forums or online and make a judgement call on how much you are willing to part. I know and most of the community knows when can’t put a price on our time and care for these animals. Ultimately it will be your decision on price. Livestock and corals should go first. Corals then livestock.

I agree with "Not an IT guy"....but he really is one! lol.

Nothing comes without effort. With that said, the more effort you put into selling the more result you'll get. And price is everything when you want to move stuff. Don't be greedy,

Do both, post individual price and a package price. The lower the price the faster it moves.

Post good pics of individual corals/equipm because if you don't people will ask for it anyways. Want to bypass this process? post for dirt cheap where people will know its such a value that they wont care to see pics and would just want to jump on it and worry about seeing it in person.

GOOD LUCK!

If this was my tank I would sell off corals and fish first. Even some live rocks because you have a lot in the tank. Next, leave the tank up and running and sell everything as a package. Buyers like to see everything is working and the tank doesn’t leak.
As for the price, it’s all up to you. List the price you want to sell. If no replies than lower it.

Good Luck!

I agree with the above. If you want to sell it complete you are going to have to offer it really cheap. I did that with a previous tank and sold it in just a few hours. The buyer then came in and took it all away and I was done.

Unless your trying to get money. Put a low price on it. Must take all. Blow it out to one person and be done with it. Otherwise it’s gonna be a hassle. Gone in 1 day.

I had to sell my 120g when I left Oregon.

I had a few nice pieces of coral I sold individually to 4 different people. Then I put the tank up for $700 and three hours later a kid was there with a Uhaul to take it away.

I probably cost myself close to a grand by not parting it out, but it just wasn't worth the hassle for me. If you want to squeeze every penny out, sell the coral attached to the rock, then the fish. Then the equipment, and then the tank.

Also, 30 years is a great run. I hope you really enjoyed it. I'm at 22 years in myself and only thinking of going bigger :D
