Im going to be moving in about 2 months and id like to take the time to clean up my 24 aquapod.
I got it second hand and lately its been starting to leak around the top rim. Id like to remove the top rip of the tank, remove the false wall. clean the tank up and possibly re silicone it if its needed.
I wanted to possibly drill a hole for a sump or get an over flow. Any suggestions?
And does anyone have an extra over flow or one that's not in use that they would like to trade for or give me a good price on? let me know thanks guys

I was thinking the same Gr1mm, I cant make up my mind. drilling would look cleaner. I just took the rim and backwall off my jbj 6.5 cube and it looks very nice when its all cleaned up

Here is the 6.5 gal I did, yeah theres a crack in it but I plan on using this for my sump. I am just going to glue the piece back. Took me ages to scrape this clean with a razor blade. probably around 2-3 hours. cant wait to do this to my 24......
How long did it take you to scrape it??
How did you remove the rim. Did you cut parts of it off. work underneath it with a razor blade all around till it got loose the just pulled it off?

that little tank looks clean! don't remember how long it took me but i do remember the the top trim was pretty easy since some parts of it was already coming loose, maybe the silicone was to old. i did run a blade underneath all around a couple of time then pulled it off. nothing broke. the inside wall i ran the blade around the silicone and slowly pull. i did use alcohol when i was removing the left over silicone, it made it so much easier.

Nice ill have to try some rubbing alcohol or something when I do this one. The jbj had so much silicone you wouldn't believe and that crap did not and I mean did not want to come off. I wonder what kind of silicone they use in the jbj. Its very clean looking wish it didn't have that little crack in it or id turn it into a desktop planted tank or something. but Im probably going to use it as a sump or ill grab a 10 gal from the petco dollar sale.

So are you using that 28 gallon, or are you also in the process of figuring out if you want to drill or use an overflow box. What were your thoughts on your next step?

i have that one stored away i replace it with another 28 nano but thinking of perhaps drilling both and building a stand to fit a sump in there but im just to lazy lol i thought of using this one as a sump/refugium. perhaps ill redo the silicone add baffles and go from there. i dont think i would go with an hob overflow box tho.

I think I may drill my tank as well, what overflow or box would you recommend and where can I get one?
Iv been working on plans for a new stand as well, id like to make a taller stand where I don't have to lean over to check it out every 5 minutes lol
Id also like to make it slightly wider to fit maybe a 10 gal or 15 gal sump.
Was also going to make a shelf in the stand for maybe a frag tank.
Then sand the baby down, maybe stain it then seal it.

im not sure they sell the overflow box that goes inside, i was thinking of cutting some black acrylic and use weldon to glue it and then silicone to attach it to the tank. im not sure how to cut the teeth tho.
