Hello all,

I am brand new to Long Beach and am looking for a quality LFS that is not too far away. I am just setting up a 110 gallon reef aquarium and need a home base to go to! All help and suggestions are appreciated, thanks all.

Age of Aquariums is a nice shop with a great selection. Chance of Reef is also somewhat near that location as well. They are also good guys. I would recommend stopping in both.

This! Welcome fellow Long Beach reefer! Be sure to hit up the SCRK meetings at Age of Aquariums on the 3rd Sunday of every month.

And you didn't ask but in case you already used google, do not go to Strictly Fish for livestock. Their prices are okay for dry goods and they're open later than Age of Aquariums...and their livestock is dirt cheap but it's all stressed out and mostly just downright sick. Speaking from experience here...

Thanks for the quick replies everyone! I will be checking them out this Sunday and I'll be sure to make it to some of the meetings there! I had found a couple places on Yelp that I checked out today but their salt water selection was almost non-existent. I think I'll be much more satisfied with AoA.

It's a good store to go to in case you have an emergency since they close at 9. When it comes to fish they do have a wide variety but limited on the coral side. As far as prices I wouldn't consider them dirt cheap lol

Checked out AoA today and it was just what I was looking for. Great selection and the staff is even better. I will make it to some of the meetings there as well. Happy to join the community here, and thanks for the reference!

I swung by Strictly Fish while I was out and they seemed alright as well. Just as Subzero said: good selection of fish, corals were a little more limited, and prices were comparable, if not even a little more expensive for fishies compared to AoA. I will probably go to both stores with a preference for AoA.
