Hello,

I am looking for "professional" carpenter or companies around the OC area to build a custom stand for my big tank. There is a special requirement for this build. It has to be built similar to furniture that can be assemble and disassemble like bed frames and tables that we order from furniture stores. This is because it won't fit through my door if it can not be disessemble in pieces. It is too risky to have rookie carpenters for this job, so only professionals. Please let me know if you know someone or company that can do this job. Thanks much.

Good questions.

The standard door is 36" wide.
The tank dimension: 96x48x30 so I can tilt the tank side way and the 30" height can fit through the door easily.
The stand dimension: 96x48x44. All sides are more than the 36" of the door. Can't fit through.

OK this is what I have in mind:

Stand approx dimension: 96" x 48" x 40". Because it is too big to fit through my door, I need to to have it build similar to furniture (bed frame and tables) that come in pieces and assemble inside the house. This is what I have in mind.

The stand base board 96 x 48
The 4x4 columns will be assembled on top of this base board individually along with other 2x2 to hold the structure together.
The top board 96 x 48 will be assembled on top for the tank to sit on, and a center hole for the center overflow.
The 2 sides and the front will be 5 individual pieces that will be snap-on pieces. 2 side pieces (48x40). 3 front pieces (32x40)
Moldings to make the stand look nice.

The builder can make all the pieces at their shop and I can pick them up if the shop is within 2 hours drive from OC.

I'm not an expert but this doesn't sound like a good idea. Over 5000 lbs sitting on top of a not completely solid frame. Yikes.

Good luck with this and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

also, are you sure your doors are 36"? I just googled and it says standard door width is 32" That would still allow your 30" to fit through but it would be a much tighter fit.

ok so maybe 32" is for interior and 36" is for exterior? sorry

Take a window or a patio door (if you have one) apart and put in that way.

We made our steel stand 3 piece. Basically it was a tube steel stand that stood at 30 inches. It got cut in half and then bar stock put in the tubes. Each corner was a machined fit so this sucker is stable. Now it stands at 45 inches or so.
