I also use Rodi and also use solution, not much of a difference here so I quit buying the solution.

Rodi is fine and calibration fluid is more accurate since RODI is @ 1.000 whereas the calibration fluid is @ 35 ppt or 1.025. Cost per test, RODI is much cheaper. I've had my ATC (cheapo) salinity tester for almost 3 years. I used RODI to set i t up and after 6 months tested again and it was accurate. A few months back I did a calibration with refractometer cal. fluid and RODI both results were exactly on target.

Two little fishes AccuraSea Seawater Reference Solution uses rodi to adjust it to 35ppt.

"It’s pure natural sea water micron filtered and UV sterilized then adjusted with reverse osmosis water to the standard S = 35"

+1 for using rodi

I have the fluid that comes with my d&d refractometer. When I calibrate with the calibration fluid and rodi it's the same. Maybe the one they give for free isn't any good? Either way, been doing it that way for 12 years now.

For those that use calibration fluid, how do you actually know that it is what it say it is?
