Can any one recommend a good fuge light for growing cheato? I have a 15 gallon sump and I just got some cheato for it. I was hoping to avoid using an incandescent bulb.

Your suggestions are appreciated.

JBJ Nano-Glo Refugium LED magnetic light. It's either 6500K or 5500K spectrum IIRC. I have it on my refugium side panel, and the chaeto grows great. It's definitely low wattage, so it adds no heat to the tank. I have it on 24/7 (since I'm too lazy to get a timer).

I'm experimenting with a 18w LED/PAR 38 from Costco. The shrooms, anthelia love it. It's bright. But it's $40.00.

I used to use a CFL bulb over my Chaeto and I trimmed my chaeto every 6 months or so. Then I ordered a 12 - 3W DIY LED from china and now I have to trim my chaeto every 3 weeks. I now believe that you need a pretty strong light to maximize the growth.
