Im starting to photograph my tank a bit more now that its growing out. Will post pics to share here. I run a very untraditional system but enjoy the results. In time I hope to become a lot more comfortable with the DSLR. Maybe could use some pointers actually. Here's a few to start

Wow awesome looking pieces. Do you have a build thread? I'd like to hear more about your untraditional system for sure.

Sadly I dropped this colony a few days ago and accidentally fragged it lol. Still looking a lot better. My wife named it the 5th Wave. Kind of catchy and I like it.

As far as camera pointers all I've heard is that orange gel filters will help give you more natural colors.

Whats this unique system you're talking about though? I'm interested in hearing about that! In reefing most systems are 90% copy/paste

I use the gel filters for my Iphone and they work great. They filter out the blues. I run a hight nutrient system and cycle the cleanliness of my tank. I think the longevity of the acros is better this way. They respond to issues and recover much quicker.

This one is absolutely a killer.. It's not named, so was this a brown aussie surprise?

Very cool about the higher nutrients. ULNS has worked well for some people, but as time goes on more and more people start getting pale Acros. I started nitrate dosing and I slowly raised it from 0 -> 2.5, I'm going to raise it to 5+ eventually, but my bioload is still light, so I don't want to get it too high then add fish on top. What are your high nutrient params if you don't mind me asking?

Rakie Nitrates float around 30-40 and phosphates are .03-.07. I feed my fish and coral a variety of stuff daily. I think there are different stages that nitrates take on. For instance fish poo starts as solid and then different kinds of bacterias break it down until it is gone. Manipulating your water quality so the nitrates are at a point of availability in this sense has given me success. Its just the method behind my madness. I have a frag of that piece available by the way. Feel free to pm me.

Wow, 30-40 huh? Most people are around 10 when they're talking high nutrient systems haha. Definitely very unique!

I'll definitely hit you up for one of those beauties -- After I recover from buying my college books / supplies this semester D:

I think polyp extension is one thing that set some acros way ahead of others. While in my tank tonight I though I would snap a pic of the growout piece. Looks like this acro has some WiCkeD polyp extension as it matures(kind of I had to move it for the pic haha)!!!! Those distinct sabertooth tentacles are legit. I have similar ones in another acro in my tank and they turned out becoming yellow. I wonder if thats in the future for this piece.

This is the piece I am comparing it to, similar I think. What are some of your thoughts?

This piece here is one of my favorites that I got from George at Crazy Corals. When I saw the colony I could not believe my eyes. Fair enough, it just looks like a tenius now. When colored it will be green/blue base, pink corolites, and ........... Blue polyps!! Hahahaah Well I at least think its really nice. Not a common color combination, a little different. Lets see how it turns out in the next few months. Its acclimating to my leds at the moment.
