made some coral frag plugs while watching TV.. I think they are pretty cool. I used to make smaller star war plugs. Now moving on to some bigger molds. These solid troopers take so much cement lol.

I ran out of white Emarco40 so used their coralline color. next box is pink... same stuff but on sale lol.

That's so cool and hilarious. Reminds me of the silicone molds that we used to melt crayon into for the kids. Are the molds made out of silicone? Is there one for spongebob's pineapple house?

Very nice! Have you considered growing some encrusting corals on these? Some nicely colored cyphastrea would look pretty rad

My wife have lots of these silicone molds (from making goodies for the kid's friends when they were very little), and I have to go find them. I guess I never thought about using them for reef tank. I'm going to make one for my tank. Thanks for the inspiration, and another fun thing to do.

I just made my first Millennium Falcon plug, It turned out exactly like the crayons, it's awesome. Will put a tiny cyphastrea piece to grow over it, might take awhile though.

Next, I'm making donuts!

I can't imagine the amount of cement needed for that big trooper head. My wife has a big Hello Kitty mold as well, it's big. That would be something...LOL.

When I place the newly made plugs into the tank, it builds up some diatom or browning over it very quickly. It seemed to have killed my cyphastrea frag that I glued onto it. I've placed the other newly made plugs into a bucket with saltwater, and hoping it can cure it a bit.

Your plugs looks very clean. My nutrients may be high.

Do you use emarco400? I never had to cure those. 24hrs of drying and right into tank.

My nutrient is around 20 nitrate and 0.2 phosphate. No diatom or algae issue tho. I keep a good mix of bacteria.
