making a homemade small refugium for 29 gal....ideas?

Hey guys I was curious if I just went simple and bought a small hob filter, take out the bio fiber and filter cartridge, so it is standalone, add chaeto in it, plus add a small 6500k led light above......do you guys think it will work? This is a sumpless system that ive had in my room for awhile now.

Yes, it will work. It seems like a lot of folks use aquaclear ac70 filters for that.

It will work and like Omar said, there are many that do the same. But too small will make a very small impact in the system as well.

Just get the biggest filter you can find that will fit. +1 to Omar's recommendation
