Just yesterday I received and installed my Marine Depot brand media reactor.
And here is its link. http://www.marinedepot.com/Marine_D...Reactors-Marine_Depot-MD4371-FIFRISCR-vi.html

Loved how big, sturdy and overly well built it was. Hooked it to a maxijet 1200 and was pumping like a charm.

Checking on everything tonight and noticed that there was only a trickle comming out of it. Took it apart. Maxijet woks so it must be the reactor. Took out the carbon completely still had the same issue. I noticed built into the lid on the media canister was an embedded filter pad. The problem is I can't seem to take it out to clean it and if I run I without the lid the water flow bypasses the carbon completely. Anyone have this issue before? Do I just need a larger pump to help? I tried spraying high pressure water the other direction and it did noting. Some advice would be helpful! Thank you.

An MJ1200 is plenty, I wouldnt upgrade the pump. Did you ask Marine Depot? They should be able to help you out.

I had the same problem with my BRS reactors when I had them, make sure you rinse the gfo before putting it in as well as the carbon, also, make sure that wherever you have the MJ1200 there isnt any junk flowing in there. When I placed my MJ in the drain/skimmer area of my sump it clogged all the time, I then moved it to my last chamber, where my return pump was at, and it was a lot better, I still have to clean the lids of the containers every 1-2 weeks. Also I found out its usually the gfo that clogs it, try reducing the amount of gfo in the reactor.

I played with it a little today after your tips and I cut gfo in half and Im getting much better flow. Marine Depot sent me a new filter and instruction on how to replace. Their tip was rinse the media thoroughly. Its working like a charm and I know how to take apart and replace the filter pad when it does get clogged. I think MD should sell the pads or send extras with the reactor. Thank for your help!
