Ive always wanted to set up a big display marine pond running threw my house when I moved out but for now im practiceing a little smaller scale. This is my 50 gallon marine pond set up. I only have one concern, the overflow is just a hole drilled into the side so the water naturaly overflows into the sump, it goes threw a fiber pad then into the compartment where the return pump is which runs 600gph. when the return pumps on full blast it emptys out its compartment in a matter of seconds so at first inthot i needed to "top off" but if i turned the pump off the sump would almost overflow just from the water comeing in threw the over flow not from back siphoning, the overflow is a 1 1/2 inch pipe so is the overflow just to slow for the return pump? its runnig smoothly right now at 1/3 the flow and sugestions or ideas?

Try taking some better pics. I can't really tell how u have your overflow setup. That size PVC should be fine for 600gph. Prolly an issue with where u have ur overflow. Better pics will def help

You could do like a plywood tank but with no glass and make it like 2 ft deep. I have a saltwater swimming pool and I have been thinking of throwing 500 damsels in it. For **** and giggles

Man this is what happens when we have to much time on our hands....lol

Naw its cool, I though about doing too...Wish it could be outside but yeah very difficult..the evaporation would kill...not to mention animals where I am at...

It would definitely have to be an enclosed green house and that would be awesome.

yeah it just kinda "water falls" in i think if sump was bigger it could work because i could pour more water in to make more pressuer its just with the small sump it cant handle all the exess water guess the flow rate works il probly add koralia for some more flow. im waiting for the stars n strips puffer to get huge so he will be like a big pet n can toss food to him n pet him n stuff haha
