I've been looking at the reviews/specs for the new Marineland Reef Capable LEDs. So far they look promising and I'm considering them for my 55g. Has anyone else had any experience with that particular/similar LED setup? I want to hear all the pros/cons/suggestions I can and make an informed decision. By the way I can't really get a MH setup because I have a 1-year-old who loves to get into things and a hot/bulky ballast would definitely be a no-no (same for filtration but I'll get into that when I start my tank thread soon :proud:). Well...anybody...?

I use a LED panel to grow cheato. That’s all they are good for if you ask me.
Once the technology is better and the ridiculous price drops I’ll built my own.
Build your own and save a few hundred for more coral and or fish.

Im actually in the process of getting my supplies together to build a few LED panels. I went thru Stevesleds. they are affordable, and if i mess up, it wont hurt my wallet as much.

When i get everything together, ill be posting for help regarding the wiring schematics. ive never soldered anything, so it should be fun lol

Proper size LEDs grow all types of coral. Period
I have tank full of frags
1 watt LEDs have limited use for softies and lps

I have made led units and installed AI and imported units
You definitely get what you pay for
The AI units are made here in USA

The marineland unit will be fine for lps and softies

I have a buddy who uses it on his 24"? tank, but he only has a few corals and they are all on the top part of the tank. So its your choice if you want to use this fixture or not.

save your money... wait until they release some RGB or similar affordable LED fixtures...

until then, get some T5's with ATI blue+ and ATI purple+ only...

RGB??? Red, Green, Blue Panels???

some companies use RGB LED's... like vitrea, and i hear that CREE is also making RGB led's... pretty dope... i would want that a million times more than blue and white led's...
