Hey i have a maroon clown an would like to get another one but everybody i talk to says that they'll kill eachother... Anybody know a way to get a new clown in without it dying? I was thinking of floating it in a plastic container for a month before releasing it... Hoping the old clown gets used to him... Any ideas?

i paired a premna once... ii had a huge fat gorgeous female... i got the smallest maroon clown i could find and put him in this small turtle box thingy inside my tank... you know, those small critter keepers...? i put it next to her nem...
after a week i let him out... but you're supposed to leave him in there for two weeks or more... but that sucks...

I paired my successfully. I have a 4" female for the longest time by herself. So I took out the female and put her in the sump, then put a 1.5" male in the DT. Naturally, the small male started hosting the anemone. After two weeks, I took out the female from the sump and put her in a critter box as gumbii mentioned right next to the anamone in the DT. The female stayed in the critter box for another two weeks and was really pissed about someone stole her anemone.
Once I released the female into the DT, she went straight to the anemone and totally kicked the male's butt and got her anemone back. The male then spent two or three more weeks hiding somewhere nearby but would move closer and closer to the female. The female would chase him away from time to time but finally took him in. A happy ending.
I think if you take it slow and make sure the female doesn't kill the male at the instant they meet, you are half way there.

My Maroons from Evanski9 are weird... had them in the tank for over a month, and she always picks on his. not bad but just cases him away. but he'll do his little wiggle dance and she kinda accept him. then they swim together for a bit and she's right back to picking on him... this happens 100 times a day... but they sleep together at night... Just like a real marriage, fight all day, sleep together at night.. lmao.
