Sooooo...

It's supposed to be coming up in 2 months. But haven't heard of any talk or even seen advertisements on MAX. Is it just not as popular as I thought it was?
Just wanted to comment on this for the benefit of the OP

A significant difference with MAX is that our show if family-owned and operated. We promote and advertise the show well, in fact TFH Magazine is one of our strongest sponsors, and our promotions do reach a global audience
We participate in most of the major hobby forums best that we can, however the reality is that we do not have the luxury of warm bodies. By that I mean we lack the affiliated club members who go on the boards with comments of "we are the greatest, we are the greatest, we are the greatest" from which consumers/hobbyists (who are only human) respond quite predictably to the peer pressure. This is actually very effective marketing.

We, on the other hand, take a very different approach by going to the source. The trade show business is really not rocket-science: You keep your clients (exhibitors) happy and in most cases you'll have a good event. If you have a good event then attendance will inherently fall into place through word of mouth, personal experience, and other communication channels (social media, e-mail, blogging, and so forth). Our particular niche is the family crowd, and it that regard we excel quite nicely. We've operated the MAX show since 2008 and now have one of the strongest and most loyal customer bases that a business owner could wish for. At the end of every MAX, 75-80% of our exhibitors sign up for the next year's show before even leaving the building! This makes my job a hell-of-a-lot easier and less stressful. : )

It humors us to see people trying to compare shows as if there were only one possible choice to make.
We are in the "MECCA" of the hobby here in Southern California.....we have over 150 saltwater-related fish stores within a 75-mile radius of where I sit at this very moment, this is phenominal!
As such, I implore you dear hobbyists to take advantage of this good fortune and reape the benefits thus presented to you!
Just Remember: Wash behind the ears, Do your water changes, and GO TO MAX EVERY APRIL! LOL!

"We Do What We Do For People Like You!"
: )

It amazes me how many people have contacted us thinking they are going to negotiate a discounted booth at the last minute.

Is there someone out there actually advising people to do this? If so, consider that person a complete idiot and never listen to them again.
