Metroplex dosed into water column?

I’m having an issue with internal parasites and cannot setup a hospital tank atm. Can I dose metro to the water? the fish refuse to eat the soaked food and one blenny doesn’t eat any food only grazes they rocks. Do you guys thinks it’s safe for coral or a bad idea?

I’ve used it inside my tank soaked in food with no issues. Even my nems eat it. Have you tried using garlic soak and/or Focus ??

yeah, i’ve tried soaking in focus, selcon, and garlic. I’m asking specifically about the safety of dosing the water if anyone has done it.

Ah. I believe you can just not as effective as ingestion.

I think it may be a bad idea. it's not going to affect internal parasites as well without being ingested like @For Sure an IT guy said.
I believe its recommended to be soaked with focus specifically to bind the medication to the food and keep it from dissolving freely in the water column. I'm not saying it's 100% for sure unsafe, but not how I've seen it dosed in a reef tank before which makes me think it's risky.

saltwater fish drink the water so they'll ingest some.. not sure it'd really be effective tho. in a dt i'd think it'd be really ineffective since established biofilters break down medications really quickly

metrodanizole is thought to mostly be reef safe, but ymmv. it hasn't been widely used in reefs like praziquantel. i think some people were doing fairly high doses trying to fight dinos on r2r with no issues, but again not sure i'd trust it. i know fenbendazole is not reef safe which is kind of the go to if metro + prazi doesn't fix internal issues, but it's harder to use

what have you tried to bind? i normally just do something like mysis or calanus and some tank water, focus + GC and the fish always eat it if they normally eat the food. some people do dry foods and it seems to suck up the meds better, but i've never really come across a bothersome internal issue myself where a couple weeks of gc + focus food didn't do the trick, but i'm sure they're out there

You really need to use Focus to bind it to the food. It is completely ineffective for internal parasites dosed to the water column. You need to get the a high enough dose inside the fish. You just can't do that through the water column.

While it is "Safe" it can harm inverts in the water column if you follow the dosing instructions.

If you need I make a prepared frozen food that I use in my QT that is set up with Focus and Metroplex in the correct proportions. It also has Garlic, Selcon, Vitamins and Amino Acids. I was not prepared to release it for sale, yet, but It is coming soon. I could get you some.

I get EVERY fish I QT to eat this food eventually.

I would not dose metro direct to the water column in a reef tank. Ive had success with feeding an even mix of metro, focus, selcon and garlic guard mixed in a shot glass soaking for a few hours prior to feeding. Just an fyi, i feed this in a qt tank, not the display, so i am not sure how “reef safe“ it is, but focus is supposed to bind the meds to the food.

Erick's QT method works very well. I bought a clown tang that went through his quaranteen. It is very healthy and active.
His prepared frozen food was a surprised bonus that he gave me along with my QT fish. I have had a zebra eel that is a very picky eater. It wouldn't come out to eat for a long time but once I put some of Erick's frozen near it, it was immediately eaten. Now the zebra eel comes out when ever I feed looking for his food. It's about 2 foot long now and has a big appetite for Erick's frozen.

I've have a sick Clown in QT for almost 2 months now. At first, she wouldn't eat anything at all so I put her in QT and treated her with Kanaplex and MetroPlex in the water column for about 7 days. That seemed to help because she did start to eat a little but she is still very lethargic and hardly eats at all. I tried a FW dip and noted some flukes in the black bucket so I treated her with Prazipro for 7 days and then again for 7 days but still no change. I tried mixing metroplex, focus, selcon and garlic extreme in equal parts with dehydrated brine shrimp and she would not touch it. She used to eat almost anything like a pig and she was very feisty. Now she is very lethargic and hardly eats anything. What is the secret to get EVERY fish to eat Metroplex + Focus?
