Mixing multiple tangs

Thank you for this post. I completely agree. I will also add that it helps to make sure the new addition is eating well before going into the DT. I also put the new addition in an acclimation chamber in DT for one week before release. An I agree release at midnight works well. Placing a mirror also distracts the bullies and gives the new fish a bit of reprieve.

I have a Sailfin, Yellow, Atlantic, Purple, and just recently added a lavender, the lavender is beign chased a bit but not to bad, they all ha e there little scuffels but nothing to bad. I did the acclimation box with the lavender. But her jumped out o. The 2nd day usually i do 4 to 7 days depending how i see the other fish interacting with new fish.

Kinda interesting topic. I had a Kole (yellow eye) Tang that was a total A-hole. Normally a super mild mannered fish, but this guy managed to kill a couple Blue (Hippo) tangs, a Blonde Naso, Foxface Lo among others. To distract him, I added 5 Yellows, a Tomini and a Purple Tang all at the same time to my 240 (900+L) tank. Since then, he has been a model citizen.
Fish are people too. All have different personalities. A normally mild mannered fish can be a d!ck, or conversely an aggressive fish can be a total sweetheart. Having enough room/territory, feeding a proper balanced diet for any specific species of fish, can go a long way towards success mixing conspecifics. Although not always a given, it can be done. Oftentimes, with great success.
