Ok guys so just yesterday I purchased yellow tail tamarin wrasse from Manny. I acclimated him like I have done all my fish. About 1 hr of drip acclimation. Fish seemed fine put him acclimation box so my other fish would not get at him and be able to get use to him.

This morning the fish was laying on its side and breathing weird. I placed him in my refugium so that he could hopefully recover. And dark would help. Unfortunately he did not make it.

I texted Manny told him about the situation and requested some sort of refund. He offered 20$ credit towards another fish. I explained I don't live close drove about 1hr 30 min to get it and I don't often go out that way. After all was said and done he only offered 10$ back on paypal. I paid 45$ for the fish and requested for him just to send me 20$ on paypal. Same deference as far as I think. After all was said and done he refused. So I said ok I'd be willing to take 20$ credit on another fish if he can meet me half way when he gets another fish I want. Anyways he goes on to explain that there sensation fish and he bought 3 and one died already but the one he sold the day he got them has been fine. First thing that came to my mind is if he would have told me one died in his system I would not have purchased the fish. Second thing is. It must be his system and the fish being in there for to long. Since the other was fine.

Anyways all am asking is for the 20$ less than half sent back to me on paypal. To make this right. Like I said if he would have told me one dies in his system already I would not have purchased. I'm just asking for him to make it right. Really sucks as its a beautiful fish.

Those are some of the hardest fish to keep, negative experiences are bound to happen. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. As far as I know no one offers guarantees on these guys because they are so sensitive. Id take whatever he offers and be happy with it.

My thing is if I was told one died on him already. I would not have purchased in the first place. And him being wiling to give me 20$ credit towards another fish would be fi e but he's 1 hour and a half away. So asked if he would meet half way. And got a no also. So what the difrences from 20$ credit or 20$ back.

Just like Adam said yellow tails and red tails are an expert only fish. They're very sensitive and hard to keep. I've had few and my record for keeping one alive is 6 months. They are notorious for dieing for no exact reason anyways you must find a healthy specimen that's eating.

I'm not in anyway saying he's a bad guy or anything. But being as he knew one had already died. Should have told me that prior. I mean I'm sure it does not happen often with his fish But with what was said. I think 20$ back when I paid 45 isn't bad. But that might just be me.

Very few stores will give you credit and that is if you are a good customer but when buying fish, unless buying from Live Aquaria, is AS IS. Reason behind this is because so many things can go wrong after leaving his place. Maybe that 1.5 hour drive to your home was too stressful? Maybe it wasn't acclimated right? One hour acclimation is way too long IMO. Anyways just be glad it was only $45. I've lost fish that cost me $400+ and that my friend is something i wouldn't wish on my worse enemy. And plus what they said its an expert only fish. Sorry for your loss. Next time buy "used" if you don't QT.

Sorry to hear about the wrasse but Manny prices are pretty low compare to most places and for him to offer any refund is pretty good. I don't think many places will guarantee livestock and refund anything. Again Sorry for your lost.

I hear ya, was the fish eating at his place? It's Deff nice to know if others have died before actually pulling the trigger. As far as credit as apposed to actually cash back for a seller there is a huge difference. Credit for a seller is usually about half the amount of cash if im not mistaken. Also no offense but iv never heard of anyone selling fish driving half way to make the disgruntled buyer happy. I was once told by my Lfs, fish dieing is what keeps me in business. Sucks but that's the trade.

Yeah his offer was cool. But I do t see the difrences between me getting g 20$ credit on another fish. Witch requires me to go all the way back over there or just refunding me 20$ it her way it's 20$ back am I right ?

Cuz you will most likely pick a fish more than $20 and Manny will collect mo money from you. Plus he is making money off the new fish you will be buying. If you expect any LFS or sponsor to disclose with dies and what lives it will be hard to sell fish in the first place.

IMO i do get that your mad because he did not tell you one die on his system but no LFS will ever tell you, by the way 10 clowns die last week or give you a total of fish that die on there tanks... am when ever you buy a fish its your responsibility to look for info on the fish your going to get...

For what it's worth, I have seen those same exact fish at Jan's in Montclair for $10 a couple years ago. Since most fish are seasonal, my guess is they might be at Jan's again.

I don't know or have any dealings with Manny or Danny but the above is so true. There were plenty of dead fish and clams at RAP this last Saturday morning before the show opened and no one put up signs listing how many fish had died in there booth/display. If you don't like a sale you have one power above all and that is to avoid further purchases from who ever you have or had a bad experience. No one likes to lose a fish but it happens often to all of us.

Honestly, he buys the fish right before people get them, which many stores do, but isn't healthy for the fish in the long run. This is just gonna keep on happening to people. That's why I would rather pay more for a fish that's been conditioned/quarantined etc. You took the risk on getting a good deal. It's nice that he even offered anything.

Lol...

I was next to Manny when the text were going back and forth... I even texted for him... I kept telling him to ignore you and not to give you $hit...

Lol...

But Manny is a very nice guy and tried to fix this... There is no need for this thread...

I'm just bummed I'm not home to put a chicken picture... Can someone else do the honors...?

I don't see the correlation between two different fish dying. There are so many variables that could have caused your fish to die. Sometimes, that's just how it is, especially with sensitive fish. Some make it and others don't. I don't think there was any link between his tamarin dying and yours dying as well. If you want guarantees, I suggest you do what I do and buy from Diver's Den. Your fish dies and they give you a refund no questions asked. You'll pay way more, but it's worth it in my opinion. I've bought plenty of sensitive fish that have died and I did so under the assumption that they could die and many did, but I never felt like I had to ask for a refund, even partial. I'm sorry if I come off as a jerk, but nobody owes you anything. I have never asked an LFS to replace a fish when I knew the risk of it dying. Ask Jason at TRFS. I bought a regal from him knowing the risk and it died the next day in QT. Should he have given me a refund? Hell no! I knew the risk. Sorry dude, but you should have had that possibility in mind.

Seems more than fair - majority of seller and stores would not offer anything.
