What is the cheapest/best epoxy putty at Lowes for mounting SPS frags?
I have about 20 that i need to remount.
My frags are already mounted on to disks, the problem i have is my emerald crabs like to F with my coral and some are strong enough to pull the frag disk that is super glued on to the live rock off. WTF right? I have lost more then i would like to remember into the live rock not to be recovered because of those dang crabs. :bawling: I saw one of the large emerald crabs climb to the top of my Milli colony hold up his big claws in the water flow to cause the colony to tip over. Wish I would have had my camcorder on the ready for that one. So after the third time I had to move the colony to a different location in the tank.
So i need to move to putty to mount the disk to the live rock.
Or other option instead of putty or super glue gel?

catch the emerald crab out if he is causing that much problem.. id rather loose a crab then my sps IMO... and if you putty your frags use superglue as well to adhere the frags better..

You need to do the sandwich method. It works amazing, I learned it from the guys at Coral Gazers.

You just need super glue / Coral Afix, and the normal red/grey coral epoxy.

what you do is kneed the epoxy and hold it in your hand. Then apply the super glue to the epoxy then place your disk on the super glue. Then put super glue on the bottom of the epoxy and smash it down to the rock, where ever you want to place it.

The reason it works so well is, the super glue hardens pretty much instantly when it touches the water therefor holding the frag to the epoxy and the epoxy to the live rock. The super glue then gives the epoxy time to harden without you having to hold it there for like 10 minutes or more. It works every time and is guaranteed. I love it, you can even mount frags completely horizontal off a rock wall or the glass of the tank, or whatever.

It is a great technique.
