Have my Aquamaxx HOB 1 skimmer up and running now. Issue I see is it is creating too many bubbles in that they are going out into the tank via the return spout. Any ideas on why that is?
I took a video but it isn't letting me attach.

Looks awesome =) I remember when you first put this up, didn't reply back then but glad you finally got it wet. I'm sure you'll love it.

I'm a big fan of making the rock work look small but deep and I usually prefer to have a point of attraction in the left third of the tank. That said the Rockwall like scape came out well

Thank you. I wasn't trying for a rock wall, but ended up with it. I need more practice with laying out rocks. :)

I had a JBJ AIO and I enjoyed it very much. You're setup was similar to mine (aquamaxx hob and now osmolator) 🏼 I also used a reef keeper lite aka RKL with the temp probe and used it to control my heater and fan among other things to help keep params stable. Speaking of which, do you have test kits to monitor cycle/water? If not I'd get a set along with a refractometer and start practicing. Also, I used Dr. Tim's nitrifying bacteria along with ammonia to feed and tested frequently to help my cycle along. I understand patience and stability is key to a successful tank along with minimizing unwanted pests and disease but not all can manage that including myself lol! Anyway, lots of trial and error I'm sure you'll go through. Either way, I'm sure you'll enjoy the hobby

Yes, I have a full set of test kits. I test daily, alk is staying at 1.025, pH ~ 8.0, dkh 8.4. About the middle of my cycle now. A lot of diatoms and some hair algae as well. Once I get ammonia, nitrites, and trates taken care, I'll get my cleaning crew going. I'm on the fence about getting a Neptune's controller.

How close is the rock to right pane? Looks like it might be kind of tough to scrape. Looks good otherwise
