Went to MAX today, no pics will get some when I go tomorrow. But man they had some sweet stuff there.

The vendors stuff there is AMAZINGl;....

RK2 has two LARGE skimmers there... SETUP...

They have other smaller home use skimmers setup and skimming...

There is a vendor from Oklahoma,...

ZOANUTS

OMG...

you should see the stuff he brought....

(he actually picked it up here at the wholesalers)

But he has over $5k worth of stuff in his tanks, and his tanks are beautiful...

ACANS / ACANS // ACANS

overpriced, YES, but they will not last...

And thre is too much to describe...

IT is much larger then RAP, not to bring it up or comapre, on purpose or with mal intent... just saying it is great layout...

there have a courtyard, with shade, not direct sun, and

AND

TONS of raffl stuff.......

A $900 chiller, but it is used!!!

He hooked it up to a media reactor, and pumped Margarita from a five gallon bucket through the chiller through the media reactor, and it had a spout for dispensing...

So, I can settle for used once chiller!!!!!

omg...

I missed last years RAP, so cannot compare, but this event was great.
Talked to DA rep about their new Reef Keeper Elite, nice product: http://www.digitalaquatics.com/

Props for Dustin (zoanuts.com) for coming all the way from Oklahoma. He really stood out with his coral selection, and overflowing hex display.

Nice to see corals and dry goods sold at less than retail. If you are in the market for a Koralia PH MAX is the place to find a good deal. My buddy bought the last two 4's, maybe they'll restock for Sunday.

If you haven't gone today, be sure to go tomorrow. The admission is only 10 bucks :top: --> http://www.marineaquariumexpo.com/

Watch out for the mantis shrimp in the kids petting tank.
Who's idea was that :hmmmm:
I didnt see that, but I thought that was pretty cool for the kids, to get the hand on stuff.

I will take some pics tomorrow. They had this tank there that had the front glass ethched out in a design it was pretty crazy.

I went today. I think last years RAP is better if you're looking to buy/trade corals. MAX is more of "getting to know" products out there.....
Looking forward to this years RAP in October......

I just got back from MAX. It was my first BIG event and it was OK. I guess i was expecting to see alot of booths selling frags and what not. Like others have said it had a trade show feeling which was cool to look at all the new and improved things out to come. I do have one gripe though....It seemed that most of the raffle winners today were either venders or MAX personell. I guess it bothers me because i didnt win anything...OH well. I got to give it up to Jesscat from san diego for winning both solaris units....yes she won both of them.

Yeah i thought it was good! The corals were lacking a little and some of them were selling for premium prices which was kind of WHACK! Oh well. I came out winning the Hurricane RO/DI unit! YEAH! Overall a fun experience.

Ive been to Rap last year and CFM this year and if you went for coral you would probably be disappointed. I scored 2 nice coral for cheap and a xenia that from aussie. It was worth it since I won a skimmer rk2 skimmer in the raffle. Otherwise MAX was ok. My pick for best large would be RAP and the turn out for RAP was much larger. Best highend is the one and only CFM and heck the price there was better then this show for the higher end stuff.

It might have been from a Wholesaler here but were probably imported and already sold for them. Its not like you can just go there any day of the week and pick these up at the wholesaler.

Probably went something like:
Zoanut : Hi Wholesaler Rep(WR)
WR: Hi Zoanut
Zoanut: I need to place an order for highend aussie acan and zoas for an upcomming show
WR: NP order placed and will be stored in a backroom or"show bin/tank"

Ive had and have been to the wholesaler many times and I have never seen that many highend coral all at one time except for once that was "these coral are not for sell they are for a show" tank/bin

I don't know how saturday was but sunday was definately a dissapointment. There was nobody there. The only thing I picked up was some chemi-pure for $5. Everything else was overpriced or is nothing out of the ordinary. RAP last summer was definately waaay better.

If you were not a vendor you didn't see any of the nice stuff on sunday. Fishhead had some very nice stuff on sat but was NFS display only and for sale on Sunday. They release it for sell before Sunday open up and vendor, hobbiest dealer, clubs raid and got all the good stuff. Same thing with Sat. There was some nice stuff but few and they went fast. MAX was no where as large in crowd. Floor plan might have been larger but turn out was lower ratio to floorplan.

Well MAX was great for SDMAS. I just signed up for our club to have a place to meet and chill, and it turned out to be really great for our club. We had new members sign up that never really go online, and got to talk to lots of other people about new tank set ups and such. It was well worth the effort for our club to be there. And yes it was a personal success as well. I bought 7 acan colonies from zoanuts, and the blue colonial tunicates from OC Aquatics. I also enjoyed meeting all the vendors. Digital Aquatics had SDMAS setup their display tank and donated a reefkeeper2 to the club, and current donated a Fission skimmer for our summer event we are planning. All in all I couldn't have asked for anything better. I'm excited for RAP as well, because that is more coral/hobbyist centric....but for a club, and a hobbyist, MAX was definitely #1.

Oh and winning both Solaris fixtures might have skewed my outlook slightly ;)
