hello everyone! so I am going to make a conversion to my 8 bulb T5 and add some leds! I am thinking about a 48 led dimmable bridgelux kit from aqua style http://www.aquastyleonline.com/products/48--LEDs--DIY-Dimmable-Kit.html
and I will be putting it evenly split on these http://www.leddna.com/40cm-400x120x20mm-aluminum-heat-sink-for-35-40pcs-3w-led-power-transistor/
the ratio of leds will be 2:1 royal blue to 6500k/10000k what do you guys think? will it be enough? please let me know what you guys think! thanks!

If u plan on running any white t5 bulbs, u don't wanna do a 2:1 ratio. I would do something like 6:1 or maybe more. It's a waste of LEDs, because u will have to turn down the whites so much to achieve a 14k-20k look. When u order On the bridgelux website, u can make custom led ratios. Just tell him in the comment section when ur paying. I think 48 LEDs would be ok. Make sure u get the 60* optics and NOT the 80*. Obviously if u could afford to get more, that would be better. I think 60 LEDs would be pretty good

Corals grow using a much fuller spectrum than just two different types of leds. The T5's will have a much broader spectrum and will provide the necessary light you would make better use of the LEDs if you can have some other parts of the color spectrum try to include some violets (400-430NM), blues (430-465NM), some cyan (475-495), and a decent mix of 10K with some 6K. The 6K has a somewhat full spectrum and will promote growth and from there you could use 12K 14K or 10K to modify the color to your preference

Well if I were you, I would be careful with the kit you have listed above. Bridgelux does not make 3 watt colored leds, these are normally falsely badged chinese leds. With less than desirable bins and CRI. Most leds not using at least a minimum of 80CRI will yield less than spectacular pop a color rendition. For the price I would look into Luxeon ES leds or CREEs. But just my humble opinion.

fjc3 is also spot on with his suggestions of using several selections over the spectrum. I am personally running cool blue 470-480nm, cyan 495-505nm, royal blue 450nm, neutral white, and violet 415-430nm. I have personally found that running a neutral white over the cool white with red blends better and gives similar results as the 4k whites have a certain amount of red already.
