It was a dead tree branch I picked up awhile back at my cousin's house. I painted the branch white and it is part of the house decor so I have several dead tree branches around the house. Due to it shape, I was able to use this particular branch as a light stand. A live tree branch might work but then you will have to worry about the leaves falling into the tank. I'm glad you like it.
