Hi all,

Im wondering if there are any Harlequin Shrimp or dwarf seahorse keepers here? Im planning on setting up one for one of these sp but doing research on which to decide which of the 2 I want to do first. IF I go with Harlequin Shrimp, I want to go donated sea star arm and breeding. If I go with dwarf seahorse, I want to plan out a custom tank where its more of a mysis breeding tank and their numbers are controlled by the seahorse.

Harlequin Shrimp keeper.
Do you use the donated arm to feed your shrimps and how many do stars do you recommend on doing this method of feeding? How often to you feed an arm?

Dwarf Seahorse keeper.
What is your ideal height the tank? For water movement how many GPH? I want to use sea grass or kind of living marine plant. What would you recommend be for plant wise? I plan to get the plants from a aqua farm place that is free of pest.

Explain my seahorse tank and where the idea come from:
Before you say not feeding the sea horse directly is a bad idea. My idea for the sea horse tank comes from my keeping of my tiny red angler that I did not directly feed for 4 or so months and ate 100% on mysis and other pods. Within that time it grow from about 1/4 inch to almost an inch. I also want to see if there is a better way to care for them then to hatch baby brine. Which I have done a lot in my betta breeding days.

My goal is to automate the whole feeding task and simply to do WC, feed the mysis and other pods, and topoff the water. I have no design yet for the tank but it will be a combine display with fuge and/or mysis breeder.

I've kept Harlequins and I've done both giving them an arm and giving them the whole starfish. It would normally be every two weeks that I had to feed them..
