Need Advice: Canon T3i Or T5

Wife is wanting to pick up a DSLR(today) I've been researching lately and am stuck between getting the Canon T3i(a little older) or the newer T5(not the T5i) they both have similar specs(I believe) and they seem to be about same price(within 50 bucks)

What do you guys think and why?

She's gonna be using it for pics of her make up and lashes, as well as maybe video tutorial type stiff, and of course I'd use it for tank shots and pics of the family.

Yes heard good things about it... Budget is keeping me at 500(ish)
And these two fit in there just need to figure which to get...

I have the t3i and love it. It does 1080p video and takes great pics.

I like the T3i and the flip out screen... Only thing holding me back is wondering if the T5 is better?

I have been under the assumption with cannon cameras for example the T5 is a base model and the T5i is the fully loaded model... And with that I been thinking that the T3i(being fully loaded) is on par if not better than the T5(base model)

I may be wrong about that example.. And that's what I'm trying to figure out

Yes if it's between those two the t3i is what you want. I have the t5i and it's great. But if it was between the 5 and 3i id take the 3i

Thanks... From what I've read the t3i and t5 have same megapixels and stuff...

Wish I could afford the T5i ;)
