Hello skimmer experts,

I am looking for a good skimmer for my 180g tank to support heavy stock. I am currently using the ASM G4 with Sedra 5000 pump and I am not impress with it. I need a skimmer that would fit inside my sump 11" x 14" and the height inside my stand is 32". but the skimmer needs to be shorter then 32" so I can remove the cup and for maintenance. Please give me some recommendations on good skimmers with low maintenance as well.

Thanks in advance.

I really like my Super Reef Octopus. Works great. I have the SRO 5000 INT. I know that they make the low profile too.

What don't you like about the G4? That's what I was planning on getting

I am comparing this G4 against my previous Euro Reef and Aqua-C EV240 skimmers that I had many years ago. These 2 skimmers produced lots of micro bubbles from the middle of the skimmer body all the way to the cup, and produced lots of the brown stuff into the cup. My current G4 skimmer doesn't produce as much bubbles as my other skimmers. It is okay for my current load, but my trigger fish(s) are getting bigger and pooping more everyday, so I need a better skimmer of similar size.

Does the skimmer have anything to pull out? I have a nac9 that pulls out nasty stuff but if I don't feed my fish for 2-3 days it doesn't pull much out since the water is clean already.

I have a aquamax co-2 (I think) on my 150 and it seems like it's working fine. For maintenance all I do is wipe the algae off in the neck occasionally. I should probably vinegar soak it, but only since it's been like 8 months haha
