I'm looking for pictures and ideas on what is the best way to do an external overflow on an acrylic tank.

The tank is a 72x30dx24 inch tank. I wanted to make the overflow like 40 inches long and 12 inches tall. Is that to big?!!? Thoughts, comments, pictures of people that have external overflows on their acrylic tanks. And no "CPR" tube overflows please. .:) haha

Thanks!!

I have enough room in the pass-thru hole to plumb another 1" drain [I have a 1.5" drain already in place.]

So I think what I'm going to do is have two external overflows. Left Corner and Right Corner going along the back. I'm thinking they will be 20" long x 12" Tall x 5" D. One will use 1.5" drain, and the other will be 1" drain.

i have two returns, should I just drill two more holes in the back of the tank [which i know is one way to do it], but surely there is some other thoughts out there.

This tank will most likely have a floating canopy, so I didn't want to put holes in the top of the tank [on the eurobrace]. Maybe someplace near the external overflows? Any thoughts?

thanks --kaj

I was debating on going CL b/c I have an OM Super Squirt and another external pump to run it, but I don't want another pump running up the electricity bill. Though.. I guess I could use my OM SS and plum it on the return... That will definitely help with the random flow.

On a bare bottom, anyone have any solutions for debris that just sits in the corner? Or is that where a small pump comes in hand pointing to each corner? kaj

nanoreefbro -- hey thanks for the pictures! what are the dimensions on your euro-brace? how thick and wide are they?

Also for your overflow -- what are the dimensions width, height, lenth? how long are the teeth on your overflow box? what size bulkheads are you using? how many inches are they below the teeth? -- sorry for all the Q's. thanks again -- kaj
