We went Christmas shopping, and when we got back, there was this loud noise coming from the tank, low and behold the pump was running dry. The **** cat took one of the pumps out of the sump, even though it wasn't running it gravity fed all the water onto the carpet. My main concern is if any water went underneath the stand. Anyone know where I can get a carpet cleaner asap!

don't know if you have house insurance, but they will take care of it for you... my brother's 180 tank erupted and flooded the entire living room to his bedroom... they came and tore out the drywall about a foot up all around.. replaced the boards and other pieces... brought in some giant fans, and paid for everything that got water damaged... how big is the tank...???

You could go the insurance route but you would be on the hook for a deductible and many times they are quite large. Also not all insurances would cover water damage from a tank leaking or breaking.

How much water are we talking about?

Suck up as much of the water as you can and rent some large fans for a few days to a week to dry it out. You should get the fans ASAP.

When my frag tank emptied I went the ins route. Worked for me and I got new floors out of it. You need to know your policy and also have a good relationship with your agent. If anything like bean said, get fans asap. Mold and funk starts fast!!!!

I have a carpet cleaner you can borrow, let me know I can drop it off during my lunch break. I also have a shop vac, but you should only need one of those for the job.

Thanks everyone for all the tips. There's a carpet cleaning co. coming over, hopefully he's able to get the remainder of the water out. Jorge SPEARGUNHUNTER came over last night, and brought a shop vac with him, he definitely got me out of a bind, I was going nuts. Mad props to him!
