I'm putting together a light hanging fixture for my T5's and I'm looking for a part, but i dont know what it's called. Here's a picture of it:

They used to come on the old coralife hanging fixtures. You basically run a wire through it and by pushing down on the spring loaded top stud, it allows you to raise and lower the light by pulling the wire through, and then cinches on the wire after you release the stud. Id like to buy a few for my setup, but cant seem to find them as I don't know what they're called. Any input it appreciated.

Ai uses them on their hanging kits also. Check their site and you could probably order some fron them. You could also try Ver Sales in burbank. They do rigging for rock climbing and for the studios, etc. They would be able to find something to suite your needs

Heres a pic of the ai ones for reference,

How safe Ade those and is the a limit to how low the light can drop in case it fails? I'm going to look I to those myself. Was going to rig a floating canopy but doesn't sound safe with my rimless.

I've always trusted them. As long as the wire is in good shape. For the thin diameter, they can hold up a lot of weight. You can always place a stopper at the bottom for safe measures.

Theyve been working good holding up 3 sol blues over my tank. The way their setup if the fail gravity pulling down on them forces them to lock onto the cable.
