My plumbing that brings water to my sump has a small leak.
Its the piece of plastic that first touches the glass that is leaking, not the tubes.
First off its not very big, and it runs right into the sump, about a drip every 15-30 seconds.
I sealed the drain with pvc cement and still had a small leak so I used JB Water Weld.
That worked great for a week or so.
Now its starting to drip again, is there any other putty or sealant that will work while wet?
It would be impossible to drain all the water and wait for it to dry.
Any one ever ran into this problem?
Would it be possible to just leave the small leak alone and let it leak into the sump?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you're talking about a bulkhead, it is supposed to have a rubber gasket. Post pics, it will help a lot.

How about a pic? Sounds like it's a leaky bulkhead?

If its the bulkhead it needs to be setup like the pic above. Please provide us with pics of your leak so we can help further

You should drain the overflow and resinstall the bulkhead. Putting a band aid isn't a good idea. Lower the water level in the tank... and drain the overflow. And make sure powerheads are going.

How tight did you make the bulkhead? If you tighten it too much you van damage the gasket and cause a leak. I wouldn't try to patch with anything, its not a permanent fix

Maybe you didn't tighten it enough. I use channel locks 1/8 turn past hand tight.

Well I used pvc cement when I first attached the bulkheads so I don't think ill be able to drain it and unscrew them.
Any other alternatives? I know a patch wouldn't be ideal but what else do I have?

If tightening the bulkhead a bit more doesn't work, you may need to cut the piping and get a new bulkhead. And repipe. Unfortunate and more work but it is what it is. Or just live with the leak if its over your sump... salt creep after a time might slow or stop it.

Lets hope that's the case. Would aquarium sealant not work because its already wet/dripping.
Any one have this problem and get around it with out replumbing?

I used pvc cement to bond the bulkhead to the glass, (gently brushed the top of the bulk head to the bottom of the overflow) and used pvc cement to bond the adapter piece after lightly sanding the adapter.

Bulkheads are designed to go on dry. No cement, epoxy or silicone should be used. I know its sounds counterintuitive but using the cement has caused you to have the leak. To fix the problem you'll need to do like bean said. Drain your yank down, remove the bulkhead and scrape all cement from the glass and replace the bulkhead with a new one. Sorry man but that's the fix you need to do. That or live with the leak

I hope not... was thinking he means he used cement to attach the piping to the bulkhead. I'm not sure how you would cement the thread and the ring.
I was thinking the same but I've seen a couple people actually use glue on the threads.

Dam. That's unfortunate, well looks like I might just have to live with it unless it gets really bad. Thanks for your help. You can close this thread, thanks.
