OK, I'm setting up a 60g tank on part of my very long breakfast bar. Consequently, there is no sump, nor is there any room behind the tank. So, I'd like to put a skimmer on the left side of the tank, between it and the wall. This gives me 16+/-" front to back and preferably as few inches wide as possible. The skimmer also obviously needs to be external. I also prefer to heavily OVER skim.

I'm thinking the Octopus by Coral Vue DNW 150 fits the bill. Any other recommendations or comments?

TIA! :top:

Thanks, since I need a tunze osmolator from you too :)

Incidentally, what does the impeller look like on the 150's you have, because their website mentions a new design?

Peter also look into the bermudas and aquac's. Both can be utilized externally as well as in sump

I've never liked AquaC's from personal exeriences, but that's from MANY years ago. The spray injector sucked back then.

I'll check out bermuda now.

Hmm, I actually may prefer the DDNW 150 instead:
Item #: OCT-DDNW-150

Allows the user to input the exact amount of water desired to be skimmed.
Requires a feed pump or plumbed from an overflow to inject water into skimmer.
Needlewheel pump driven.
2 OTP 2000 pumps at 500 gph each included.

In sump or out of sump.
High performance venturi air injection system.

Rating: Up to 350 gallons.
Diameter = 6" Height = 27.25"
Footprint= 16" x 7"
New pinwheel impeller increases the performance by 30%.

I like the warner marine H2 model. Rated for 100 gallon and it overskims on the tank i have it on now. Its a great skimmer I do suggest warner marine products and is a HOB. consider it.

I don't have the DDNW, only DNW model with 1 pump, if you are looking for HOB skimmer, I got the octopus BH300 model instock for 100 dollar, this come with 2 pumps.
Do you have the WM H2 in stock? I may just come up and check out your stuff this weekend....

While that may be true, there is no way I'm spending 3x my entire system on a skimmer :D
