Well it’s time to upgrade, replace the old Lee mar 110 gal tank as the seams are going out. It’s been over a decade running. The next tank will be an innovative marine 200 ext. It’s made to order and probably gonna take 4-6 months from now. I decided on the peninsula because I wanted to see all 3 sides. And more room for corals.

So that means time to collect equipment and look for deals. I am going to start over from scratch. Maybe with a couple rocks from the current tank to cycle. It’s been a hot minute since the last time I setup a tank.

Here are some of my equipment choices. I plan to run hybrid approach with two different controller. Running both controllers allows me to have the best of both equipment choices and redundancy as fail safe. I plan to go hydros and apex route

Return pump: reef octopus varios 6 pumps
Skimmer: Royal exclusive 200
Powerhead: Reef octopus varios and Ai Nero7
Heaters: 2 300 watt brs and 2 300watt ebo jagger with ink bird controller as primary
Controller: Neptune Apex, Hydro
Testing: Hydro-Maven, Trident - No
Lighting: undetermined
Supplement: 2 part and diy calrx

70.9”x30”x21.7”H will be white cabinets

Looking for creative mounting solution for light hanging
I was looking at surfboard wall mounts for another project recently and I wondered if they could be used for hanging lights? There are a lot of different styles and designs and a surfboard would be kind of cool above the tank as well.

Cool. All my cars and reef tanks have been black for decades. I used to hate white -- thought it was boring, not "sophisticated". Well, this year I bought an used white 450g CDA tank -- man, it's awesome! You'll love the white cabinets.

As for mounting options, I have a matching white canopy to hide all the lights inside. I personally don't like hanging stuff from the back or the ceiling so all my lights have been either on top of the tank or hidden by canopies.

Btw: love your BK skimmer! RE makes really high quality gear. I bought a BK Supermarin 300 when BRS had their liquidation sale 2 months ago. BK skimmers make the finest bubbles and those pumps should outlast us (me)! lol

Lighting — I used to have Radions since Gen1 thru Gen6. My other tanks are Radions G6 Blues but I got (twelve) Orphek OR3s on the new 450g (8x3x2.5) tank. Have you decided on make / model yet? If open top, you might need to build some light racks perhaps?
