I just got this email from fish street about new jebao pumps they'll carry.
Looks like vortech copies. What do you guys think? I told myself I won't be buying any more jebao products since my controller and pump failed less then 1 year old. My dc pump is going good though. Kinda interested though.

Man I got excited, I thought they would be exactly like the vortechs. But honestly I bet u these will work a lot better then the regular wp40. These will probably be a nicer/broader flow, more similar to the vortechs.

I would probably be down to test one, if anything these Chinese pumps keep getting better and better. I'm all for made in america, but how do u push innovation if there's no competition? A lot of people complain about Vortech pumps being noisy, and breaking often. Well what is there to push Vortech to fix this issue if nobody is competing with their design? This looks like a Vortech/Tunze hybrid. If Tunze/Vortech/Hydor/Jebao came out with a pump that was as silent as a Tunze but moved water like a Vortech, I would sell all my pumps and buy those....This might be exactly that

I was kinda thinking the same. I like that the whole pump is in the water though. I hate vibrating noises that a vortech makes. I think I will also give it a try. Maybe I'll wait a while and let them sort out the bugs like they did with the wp series

Yea, Or maybe these are the ultimate pumps. Like they realized that the WP series pumps were just too much flow, and the controllers sucked. This looks like the fix to me. Broad flow with a legit controller. BOOM Jebao nailed it within 18 months. Tunze and Vortech are still trying to figure it out how many years later. Lol

Someone mentioned in a thread a while back that the patent ecotech has on the vortech design is due to run out soon. Supposedly that patent being in effect is the only reason we haven't seen a straight up bald faced copy of the mp series come out of china. These new ones look promising though, definite upgrade to the wp's.

let's be honest, patents have never really stopped the chinese. (i'm chinese so i can say that.. :p)

what the china market does though, is drive down the profit margin, which kinda sucks for the company doing the R&D, but great for the consumers, because it gives us some real choices. you want better quality control, and/or support the company in their R&D, or do you want a pump that has similar functions, for a fraction of the cost.

i'm surprised jebao hasn't come up with a pump that basically does a wave box built in. the WP40/60 are already huge. you'd only be adding about 6" of volume above it.

I hope so. Even though I just got 2 brand new mp60s. Hahaha.

No BS I just started putting acros in my new tank, so I started turning the mp60s up. Yesterday morning I'm laying in bed searching the net, and I can hear those mp60s running. At first I thought it was something wrong, so I jumped up and walked over to my tank. As I got closer and closer, I realized it was my stupid mp60 humming. My bedroom is down the hallway and around the corner from my tank, a solid 30ft away. That's pretty lame for a $700 pump. But one thing I can't complain about is how well it moves water. I love how it picks up detritus from the bottom of the tank, something that the Tunze/Jebao just can't compete with.

Man look at this side by side shot

Kinda reminds me of another side by side

I hope this might kick start some pump wars between the big manufacturers. Time for the consumer to start reapin some benefits!
