Finally hung my light on my FSM tank lol hopped on the bandwagon so hopefully I can meet some more of you guys soon. I'll be the Coachella Valley's premier FSM(CVFSM) lol you think you guys in the IE have it rough? Try living out here! Anyway, the tank is an AA 48x24x12 lit by a 36" 6x39watt I believe?? TEK Light Elite. This is my first time ever having T5's and I'm already not sure if I'm going to like them. Maybe get those reef breeder fixtures I hear so much about later...but for now, here it is.

Looks good. Maybe you can try adding different color t5 lamps before switching over to LED. It may give you the look you want.

Yeah I'm not liking my T5 I am just sitting the 9 months out before I ditch them

Some more pics. Put a little DIY frag rack in there with some zoas, chalices, and a couple lps. Gotta get some better racks and more frags now! Gotta clean up the wiring and put the reactors underneath too just to have everything all nice and clean looking. And I want to put vinyl on the back of the frag tank too. Anyone know where I can get some vinyl that'll stick on there?

Thanks. Ya my buddy has a bunch of bulbs for me that I'm gonna try out, so we'll see. I like the look of them how they are actually, I've just never had T5 before so I'm kinda just unsure how they'll do for the corals. Only time will tell...

Who knows man, maybe they'll do good for you. It's gonna be kinda cool to see the difference in your corals. I was thinking about doing the half led, half T5 thing on my frag tank a while back. Maybe it'll be good for business since ppl will have the option to pick up frags from whatever lighting they want. I would feel more comfortable at least picking up a healthy frag that's been grown under the most similar lighting that I have. I have a 24x24 frag tank also that I was thinking of putting a halide on so ppl would have every option! But I gotta become the next FSM before I get too ahead of myself lol

Me and my girl have a tek light 48in. we just put it up a few days ago. running it on a 60G Deep Blue frag tank Reef ready 48x24x12. We thought i wasn't going to like it im used to LED's and the color pop. you should get a stunner strip for the color. but rite now we have a 4Bulb t5 tek light fixture.

Running with ATI BLUBS 1 purple plus, 2blue plus and 1coral plus. the color is pretty good for us and the growth is suppose to be good with the light combo i have, but you still need a reef Bright or a stunner strip for that really nice pop.

Hopefully everything works out on your end.

Ya I've got this 36" evoslim strip that I might mount up there or I might just have it on the side so when ppl come by they can direct it onto what they're looking at.

The bulbs that are on my new TEK light are a mix of ATI and Korallen Zucht, 3 super blue, 2 blue +, 1 coral plus

Put these cool frag shelves in and a bunch more frags. I tried my hand at fragging for the first time today too. Pretty straight forward lol I even fragged some of my softies just for practice. I think I'm gonna change the returns from the dual ended ones you see in the pics to the standard single returns too, I dunno...and as soon as I can catch a fish from my DT I'll put him in the frag tank, or I might just pickup a yellow tang, we'll see...

Just some basic shelving brackets and chain I picked up from Lowes. They come in a few different sizes so depending on the size of your tank and the distance from the wall you can pretty much find a set that'll work for your needs. I'll post a few pics as soon as my phone quits trippin...

If you're mounting it above a window like this, make sure you mount the braket high enough to clear the framing that's around the window. Look at the first pic and you'll see what I mean. Under the left bracket there's a bunch of holes where I tried to put the anchors but hit wood all the way up to where I finally could go thru the drywall lol gotta putty them up and spot paint now.





You'll need these^^^^little caribiner clip things too. Just make sure they're rated for enough weight.

Didn't realize I hadn't updated this thread in a month! Made some changes, got some new stuff, sold some stuff...I'm running bio pellets now too and everything is looking great. Skimmer has been going nuts ever since so I know they're working. Here's some updated pics...

Started out with the addition of corals and a yellow tang...




Then I put in eggcrate and made up some frags...






And here's some close up shots with a bit better camera(iPhone 5) still blue as hell but better. I know everyone likes pics so there's about 20 of em for ya lol...








This is a sweet gold hammer I picked up the other day^^^


Ya, gotta move the red shrooms^^^











And that's it for now. I'm moving to SD in about a month or two(hint hint) so I'm gonna have to do something with all these lol

Man that tank stocked up quick! Before you know it, there will be a blue glowing mansion in Coachella! Looks great!
