Just got my Purple Tang. I'd say he's maybe 3 inches when he's fully spread out. I have algea pellets for him and some spirulina brine shrimp and mysis which I feed daily. Anyone have any tips or tricks to keeping these guys happy and healthy? Also anyone have any input on which tangs would be okay with a purple tang down the road? I know tangs can be together if they're different shapes and sizes but does anyone have first hand experience? Thanks in advance guys. Here's a shitty iPhone picture. image.jpg

Thanks for your input Matt. Jesse are you referring to the way I held him in the water and took a picture of him?

Dang love the size! I've kept a purple with all types of tangs. It's going to come down to your individual tang. Getting an acclimation box would be the best thing for you. That way you can see how they act together before releasing the new guy into the tank. Like tangs they will eat everything. Algae pellets mysis brine. A diet with variation would be best for any animal imo

Thanks Andy! He is small but he definitely handles my mp10 like a champ! Thus far he hasn't even looked at my yellow coris wrasse or my Helfrichi or even the tiny tiger goby. Hopefully he has a chill personality and will get along with another tangs.

I went into seaside tropical fish in HB about a week ago. Found this little guy in their new shipment of fish, but noticed he had a few spots on him, so I asked the owner if they would treat him for me, with full payment in advance of course, and a week later (today) I picked him up healthy and disease free! He was swimming great and didn't have any spots or blemishes, plus he was always eating like a pig. Very satisfied with their customer service! Definitely check them out, they had another few that were bigger.

I feed my tangs pellets and every other day supplement with nori I buy at the local Asian supermarket. I had trouble with a yellow tang that was bullying it recently. I replaced the yellow with a smaller one and there is no more aggression.

Thanks Tommy. That's good to note. I'll try and find some smaller tangs. Idk if you can find smaller than these guys I saw today though! They're practically fry!
