ok so i went out and purchased the new red sea foundation PRO test kits. i was running low on my saliferts and i figured eh, 50 bucks for all three. hope its worth it. heres my review FWIW.
some pics.

fancy hard case, nice organization.

the stuff.

ready to test.

ok so i first tested my water with SALIFERT tests. MAG KH and CALC
then i tested with the new red sea test. but before we get to that i wanted to say that i thought with the syringe holder that it would be easier to test. the red sea testing took me almost twice as long to do, and unlike salifert, they make you figure out how much reagent you used, instead of making a chart based on how much reagent is left. if youre like me, its frustrating. anyways. definitely not starting off on the right foot by making things difficult red sea...

some test results.

SALIFERT
KH 9.6
CALC 470
MAG 1410

RED SEA
KH 9.2
CALC 320!!!
MAG 1460

so as far as testing went i tested twice on both tests.
^ILLITERATION :proud:

KH was ok, CALC was ridiculously low, and mag was a bit high.

i performed the tests correctly, and even followed the man with the funny accent on youtube that was the official HOW-to video from RED SEA.

i wouldnt recommend this product yet. but i believe its definitely a step up(other than calc) from its previous tests.

as for me, im out $50:alberteinstein: but hey at least i have a cool new case to put all of my salifert tests. :top: hope this is useful to anyone interested in purchasing tests.

oh and if you wanna trade me any corals for these tests or buy them off me let me know haha

Mike, don't forget you get the cool hand held syringe vial. I must say thats weird that red sea changed their format. Older tests are just like salifert (except the syringe vial).

Thanks --- odd because I bought a RSM130D and had been using Red SEA CA pro test and then bought Saliferts and my first test was CA RedSea 420 Salifert 350 which is the opposite of what you got... My red Sea kit reads significantly higher than Salifert. So that tells me the New RED SEA kit is a LOT different than the older one.

not to derail it, by the poll results, I would assume the salifert would be the best to get? Also where is the best place to get them(I have to start from scratch!)
