Hi All,

just wanted to share a new tank I got today.

It's a coldwater tank that has been up and running for about a year, which was a personal tank from the owner of microreefs. Plug and play, so that's what sealed the deal. If anyone has any thoughts, experiences, tips or resources, for these types of tanks, it would be greatly appreciated!

I bugged the hell out of microreefs and cold water marine aquatics at their booth and they both were very knowledgable and accomodating. I'm planning to make an order this week with cold water marine aquatics, since they seen to be the only vendor who carries these types of species. If anyone has any other stores (local or online) that carry coldwater inverts, fish, algae, etc, I would appreciate the hookup :a01:

My centerpiece fish will probably be this pgymy filefish:

Chiller run a lot?? Pretty cool though

Sent from my iPhone
no chiller, no compressor. It's an all-in-one system in the rear with 2 "ice probes". It's like two high powered computer fans integrated into these probes that sit in the rear chamber that brings the temp down to 55degrees. Water is ice cold, literally.

Yah that was a great booth. Mike talked with me for a good 20 minutes as well about his coldwater tanks. Nice to see he was sincerley a hobbyist and I really enjoyed talking with him. I would have loved to snag ones of those and stock it full of strawberry nems etc. Im just broke lol.

glad to see you made your way to the forums Stu! Yes, I will be contacting you this week for more livestock and nems, and some snails/crabs for cleanup. I'll respond to your email tonight once I pick out my centerpiece fish.

dude, if I knew any better, I should have bought the entire frag tank once they put the $10 frag sign up. I was there when they switched from 4/$100 to $10 each, and tank was loaded with dendros and acan frags/zoas frags. It would have cost $200-$250 tops, but I hesitated. I could have then split them up to whomever wanted at the SCMAS room, cuz no one would pass up $10 frags looking that good! :)

yah, by the time I left to find people to tell about the sale, the tank was loaded with people. I would have dunked my hands in there if I saw stuff I wanted, I have no shame when it comes to a good deal :)
