well for starters u'll need a sump that will fit ur skimmer but also be able to fit under your stand, your also going to need an return pump imho about 500gph should suffice. You might need a couple of media reactors if you plan to run gfo or carbon. you will also need 2 150w heaters or one 300 if space provides. If you run sand u'll need more of that as well. Since led is the craze right now u'll need a 1 good fixture,u'll need a couple of power heads, more live rock etc etc.

If you're willing to meet halfway, I have a couple pumps, filter socks and an unused 40 gallon you can use for a sump. I didn't see a sump listed on your equipment.

I'm a fan of eheim pumps for return pumps. The 1260 or 1262 if you want some extra juice. You will likely have to restrict the 1262 a bit or use the extra volume to run you reactors or other equipment. I've got a eheim 1262 on my tank that been on it for years. Its quiet and energy efficient. The 1262 is a bit overpowered for my tank but it works out very well. I Tee off the return line and run my reactors.

I had a 1262 on my 60 gallon cube and it was to powerful. It depends on my our return plumbing size. I went with a Tunze.
Do you have a sump yet??

Depends on your budget. I talked to John at advanced acrylics and they make an amazing sump for a 60 cube but I think it's something like 375?? I picked up a used eshopps sump that works ok but it's kinda small. A 60 cube has a pretty small footprint to work with
This is mine

im a beginner too, but this is what im learning.

Personally, id say make your own. wait till petco has a $1 a gallon sale and get one that fits your stand. home depot and lowes sell acrylic pieces pretty cheapish. Lowes will even cut it for you for free. aquarium silicone like GE 1 for window and doors for like $3 for your baffles pretty much good to go.

a 60g cube is what? 24x24x24? other options are like getting two smallish plastic totes from HD or target, have one raised a little higher and drill a hole on the top tote, add a uniseal and have it overflow to the 2nd lower tote. some say the plastics might leech chemicals to the tank, and it will look rough, but it is cheap.

as for powerheads, i dont trust the RW8's and at $80 each a bit pricey.
brs do a nice tunez for your size at $56

lights, the halo is one pretty looking fixture, but this depends on what you want to grow. retrofit t5 with the halo is the path i would take. offers the best of both worlds and quite affordable considering what you're doing.

best advice i can offer is to take your time and troll the used section for good deals, hope this helps you and gl

In a cube tank I think it's better to have two smaller pumps rather than one large one because you don't have that long run across the length of the tank. I like DC pumps so you can fine tune the flow. I currently use an rw8 I picked up in a trade. It works ok but I think I'm going to try a geyre and bounce it of the front glass. Most people seem to be very happy with them

i was actually trying to say two tunez not one, alternating them would give you about x11 at any given time. as for the gyre, i was so close to picking this for my build. too many people have said they take too much work. you need to keep them clean all the time. one rogue snail and boom. so i decided to go with 4x wav on the 220g

ive had no exp with rw8 (or any pump for that matter) but i do believe that you get what you pay for. knock off's from china vs german pumps that are cheaper with no control-ability. cus its not just saving money now, but not having to replace items in the future is also saving money.

and russ, if i ever met you and you dont look like Jeff bridges ima be sad panda :(

I think that's what I'm going to do with the sump I already have a Spair 10 and 20 gallon tank
As far as light goes the halo has been growing anything I throw at but with those t5 fixtures isn't it a pretty nice size set up that with the halo sounds like a lot hanging over the tank or do they make small compact setups

roght now I have one RW8 running at like 90% power. I put it in the back corner of the tank and have it power noted at the other corner. I'm using the pulsing mode witch is probably the weakest one. It works ok but I'm looking for a bit more water movement. I have mostly SPS in the tank. I'm was thinking about adding one more and controlling them with my apex. What types of coral will you be keeping in this tank?
