Just got my first 30 gallon tank, got a 100 watt heater, light, cooling system , filter, and protein skimmer. I have been letting the tank cycle with live rock for about a week now and I can't stop looking at it! I can't wait until I can put some corals in there and make it beautiful! Any tips or suggestions to have a successful happy tank? Greatly appreciated

I'm in Reeferside so I'm not too far from you.
The only things that happen fast in this hobby are bad things. Take your time. The slower the better. Let your tank mature for a couple months before you throw any corals in it. Let it fully cycle and go through its algae blooms. Once that all happens then you can think about corals. You can add a fish after the cycle but only add one at a time to allow the beneficial bacteria enough time to adjust to the bioload. JUST TAKE IT SLOW!

Also very good advice from Al about taking things very slow!
My advice would be just to read books & online as often as you can & talk to everyone you can to learn, learn, learn while you are waiting for your tank to be all that it can be! www.wetwebmedia.com is a great site with real "experts" that are there to help people like us. Look into local reefing clubs & go to all the meetings you can. They're fun, you can learn a lot & make lots of new reefer friends, & they have great raffles, too
