one important question to answer first: is the 120 going into the same location as the 100 cube? ie, will you need to break down the 100g first, and put the 120 in its place? or will the 2 be at different locations?

if they're going to be at different locations, it'll be easy to just set the 120 up and run it for a few weeks and slowly transfer the stuff over.

if you're going to have to break down the 100g though, it gets more complicated. I'd allocate a weekend to do the exchange.

depends on the equipment you have. given the similar size, i'm guessing you're going to be using mostly the same equipment in terms of skimmer / pumps / etc?

it'd be easiest to get the 120 up and then do a few "large" water changes (30g) every week or so, and put the 30g into the new tank, and just make sure you have powerheads moving the water til you have enough to fully cycle it with pumps.

if you don't have the extra equipment to do that, i would probably :

  1. stop return pump on 100g
  2. keep powerheads going in the 100g tank
  3. drain sump into bucket, remove return pump and all other equipment under the tank
  4. put sump and other equipment under the new 120g
  5. put sump water back into sump
  6. fill 120g tank with ~60g of new salt water
  7. slowly drain and move water from 100g to 120g
  8. once you have sufficient water in the 120g, start moving corals over from cube
  9. if you have live sand, start sucking up sand as you move coral from the 100g - wash sand before putting into new tank
  10. put sand and coral into 120
  11. fish should be easy to catch now
  12. finish!

it'll probably take you the better part of a day though.

I would do everything Jeff just mentioned with the exception to the sand.I would go with new sand, either dry and seed it with your old sand or go with all LS...I would use half of the water from the 100g and the rest saltmix, transfer the rocks, get it wet, let the cloudiness clear up then move all the corals and fish over. Althought this can't happen until you get the new setup plumbed and ready to rock. If you need help, I'm located in Anaheim too ...
