Hey guys I have a 24g cube and my parameters are as follows:

Sal: 1.024
Nitrates: 4ppm
Phosphates .08
Ca 400+
Alk 8+ I think around 10
Don’t know my ph.

My corals seem to be fine, polyps extended, some sps in there mostly Zoas. Great coloration and everything. I have carbon running and phosphate remover for media.

Are my levels at a good spot? Any suggestions?

Yeah levels are good dont chase those numbers too much. Keep Nitrates around 5-15 and PO4 0.03-.10, I also like to keep my alk closer to 8.5. Keep your CA/Alk/Mag stable and you should be golden.

The numbers look good. I kept salinity at 1.026 to take advantage of higher trace elements on a previous heavily stocked nano. I fed heavy but also performed weekly water changes. No skimmer, no dosing. Alk dips a little but not enough to see noticeable negative impact but probably slowed down growth. Keep your levels stable as Dipan00 mentioned above.

The skimmer takes out all the nitrates, so I pushed it up a little where the bubbles don’t easily reach the skim cap, I try to feed throughout the day a generous amount. I use live food and nls.

Do weekly water changes raise the other parameters like alk and calc?

How much of a water change did you perform?

The weekly wc will replenish and should take you back to your typical levels as long as you follow a rigid water mixing and changing routine. Of course, pay attention to animals you add and their consumption.

5 gallons religiously on a Nuvo 20.

See I did that with a 5g nano, I did 1 gallon weekly and I ended up getting dyno. How did you prevent that from happening? I didn’t have a skimmer on that system either. We’re you dosing nitrates and feeding a ton?

Yes water changes do replenish alk and calcium along with other trace elements.

Every system is different. You find a rythm and stick with it. What ever do stability is going to be the best thing for your tank. Pick a number for for everything. CA, Alk, Mag, PO4 and NO3 and try and keep that number stable.

I have a large system 187g display with a 50g frag tank plumbed to it and a 75g sump. I have simplified my life by adding doser so I dont have to do water changes. I never do water changes. But I do dose Alk/CA/Mag daily I also have to dose Phosphates and Nitrates. If I dont my nutrients bottom out to 0. I do run a skimmer and refugium as well.
