I currently have a planted 12g long, however I'm thinking of buying an ADA tank, moving my stuff to that, and using the 12g as a nano reef.
I've been browsing the forum and doing some research and I was curious as to what you guys thought about these possible plans for it:
Lighting- Finnex Rayll 36" Led fixture OR some kind of pendant (I'd prefer this style but would need to buy it used) OR any other LED that would work.
Filtration: Here's where I start getting a little ehh. I want a skimmer. I also WANT a refugium for my equiptment. Wants and needs are two separate things though. I'm looking for either a HOB refugium like deal that could fit on a tank with the dimensions 36" x 8" x 9" or modding an aquaclear 110. If anyone has any advice here, that would be greatly appreciated. I also have a rena filstar xp1 that I'll probably run to help cycle the tank.
Water movement: Not sure what I should do here. Mp10? Too much? I have no idea. I don't want a sandstorm in the tank, but I want majority anemones/soft corals. Not sure which pumps will provide what I need with that.
Live Rock: Cured live fiji rock? I just want it to be cured and top notch.
.... I'm planning on just setting up the tank with whatever pumps and the live rock and sand at first, with my current hung 24" 4x t5ho fixture to cycle it and learning about upgrades and what to do as I go. Is that a bad idea? Do you guys have any suggestions? Anything to sell me and help me out?
I know I sound pretty needy and lazy, but I've wanted a reef tank my whole life and I'm finally able to set one up and want to make it amazing. I know it takes experience to get things right, but I'm willing to listen and learn. I may buy a smaller nano already set up system to play around with while my 12g is being set up.
