Problem is that unless the DC pump is running at or very close to full throttle, it just doesn't make good foam!
It been done already by another company. It is only put on that company's skimmers by special request. There were reliability issues with the pumps during testing and the company is sticking with Askoll for the bulk of their orders.

Greg,

The body is a ATB medium 1050 cone skimmer. I can get Sicce PSK1000 skimmer pump with stand and venturi 6-7 times cheaper than RD1500. The PSK1000 is also cheaper than the DC pump less than half price.

In all honesty Tony judging from the size of that skimmer it would probably be best suited with a Sicce PSK1000. Even with a RD1500 it will be really turbulent.

You are building a really nice CUSTOM skimmer give the option with regards to the pump....offer all three.
That skimmer with a Askoll pump would be tops (my choice.... would you build an recirculating exterior model)
DC pump second choice
PSK1000 third choice

Hey Tony! Merry Christmas! I'd love to give it a try just to compare it to the Seaside ES2 I'm currently running. +1 on a fixed rated pump. Can I dare say, Trade In?
