Octopus POV DC skimmer... First impressions

Just got this skimmer about 3 weeks ago. Uses diablo 5500 dc pump at only 50 watts. Draws air 2400Lph.



Gave it a vinegar bath. After 1 week.


Skimmer motor is extremely quiet except for water splashing at outflow. At 2 weeks



Not sure if the variable speed offers any real advantage. I run it a maximum speed. Is this going to be the future of skimmer design? The whole body fills with tiny bubbles. At 3 weeks, pulling out thick skim mate. Think this one is a keeper.

This is the Octopus POV DC2 model. It is rated for 300 gallons light filtration or 120 gal heavy filtration. I have a heavily stocked 120 gallon tank.
