My fixture is about 6 inches above the water line putting the bulb about 9 inches above the water.

ok nice. i have a 250w metal halide and 4t5 at 15inches and was thinking i should lower them because when i turn off the t5 the halide doest seem to be bright enough.

I have a lot of natural light flooding the room my tank is in and sometimes I feel it doesn't look bright too. But my coral tell me that it's bright enough or too bright. I've thought about raising my fixture up a few inches. I have a green birds nest inches away for the surface that did fine with my 8 bulb ATI fixture, but is now bleached and is trying to grow into the shadow of a rock lol. I also would love to get darker green on my Red Planet. I wish par meters were cheaper...that's the next thing on my list to get.

**** reefomez that's a mini colony. If u don't win , atleadt u have a nice chunk. I have a lot if high end corals and nothing has this baby blue color, I'm digging this frag.

heres my monthly update. very hard to capture the colors but the tips is kind of like a light blue and the base is kinda purplish red and starting to encrust

Thanks yeah, I got lucky with a nice piece. Still isn't colored up as nicely as I'd like but it's doing well and the PE is great on it. I doubt I'll win considering some of the heavy hitters involved (including you) but these contests are more about fun than winning.

A day late sorry about the bad pic, it is encrusted and starting to grow now. Still bright baby blue color. I'm on call 24/7 been a really busy week. I'll get a ruler shot and closeup today.
