For me, the convention experience, no matter what trade, is more about the people interaction than what is for sale.

Some highlights for me (in no particular order) included:

1) Meeting Marc Levenson from Melev's Reef, bought a Coffee cup from him and learned that he's doing weekly YouTube videos now.
2) Meeting Robert from Marine Depot
3) Meeting Scott Leif who made the series of Apex set up videos with LA Fish Guy, that I used to set up my Apex and whom had good advice for me.
4) Seeing all the local SoCali reefers and hanging together during raffle time.
5) The Sea Horse Tank (and feeding time)
6) Jelly tanks
7) Talking to vendors face to face.
8) T-shirts and SWAG (got a lot of glass scrapers!)
9) Watching one SaltwaterAquariums.com guy have a conversation with a cutie at Charlie's bar while the rest of his crew hoovered around in disbelief and awe! LOL!
10) Getting ideas!

I only went for Saturday. Had I to do it over again, I'd have bought the Early Bird full conference pass with dinners, etc. Scheduling didn't allow for that this year and it being my first, I didn't know what to expect.

I would have bought things if I weren't staying an extra day in San Diego (for other family activities). It was cool to see Turtle Grass for sale, since we're not allowed to take it locally.

Taking my family was great and my wife got interested in having a Sea Horse Tank and a Jellyfish tank. The kids enjoyed seeing everything and had a blast collecting candy and stickers and pins and other swag. Although they were bummed that there weren't other kid things to do, like there are at MAX. Politics aside, MAX wins over the three (RAP, MAX and MACNA) for kids' activities.

We didn't stay at the hotel but, yeah it was okay for the convention, dated but okay.

Traffic sucked coming in:
