Hey guys, had these 3 bounces for 6 months or so. We’re all looking great but have been slowly declining, one by one over past couple months. Nicest one is now bleaching towards middle. I’ve left one alone and tested antibiotic dips, checked/dipped for hitchhikers…etc. did icp test, water came back basically normal.

anybody for any suggestions? Besides low light/low flow? Lol

I had one on the same path half bleached and shrinking. Mind you it was fine for 10+ months.

Not to beat a dead horse but low or even indirect light is what helped me. I put it under a ledge where it was getting no direct light and fed directly once a week or so. 3 months it’s colored back up and I’ve slowly moved it back out into the light.

I noticed too it looks like the first pic it’s up against the glass and the part that’s affected faces the glass. Reflection off the glass may be giving a bump in par to that one side.

Now that you mention it, I did move them about an inch from the glass around the time I noticed the decline. I’ll try a different spot and see what happens 🤷🏻‍♂️

I can never get my OG’s to survive, but Jessie got some beauties under direct light….
Thanks bro.

I, too, have noticed that my og's do better under higher par than most "light sensitive" mushrooms. Good luck OP and hope yours recovers quickly 🙏

Not sure this helps but mine sit in a pretty high amount of light. Not sure the par but my guess would be 300+ par as it sits near my acros in my frag tank so my bounces are getting cooked same as my acros. I also have one in lower par on my sand bed in a lot lower light also doing good. Not sure any of this helps you.

This one is in a no water change 10g NUVO with a kessil 180. If it's bleaching it's most likely too in too much light. I find that doing an iodine dip can help it recover and placing it in a low light/flow area or where the bounce was previously in the tank. The only time I had some melt was when I was setting up my 14g frag and had it under medium light. My guess was the tank also wasn't mature enough yet.

Also wanted to add it really depends on the tank as well. I'm pretty hands off on my tanks other than feeding and water changes for some. These two OGs split from each other were the same size before i put one in my 10g. Ones in my 45g display and the other is in the 10g non water change tank. The one in my 10g grew like twice as fast. Must be doing something right in the little 10g haha

It could be a possible bacteria infection as a result of adding something like a large LPS trachyphyllia for example or maybe euphyllias, possibly a hammer or torch of some kind. Hammers and torches carry tons of bacterias that can cause a lot of damage to your reef. So much, that I personally would never add one to my display even if it was super aquacultured. If I had to guess, I would say that you have the shroom mixed with other corals that are infected but the others are somehow temporary immune. Some corals are more sensitive than others even ones within the same species. I've seen this happen to a lot of people and they all claim, more or less, the same situation, "everyone is fine except for this Bounce". If you have any euphyllias in the same tank with your Bounce then I would try separating them. You can also try cleaning the water gently by running a moderate amount of carbon if you're not already doing so.

I first thought shrimps could have been the reason why it's damaged but on second thought, if this was the case, you should be able to see some sort of damaged flesh or maybe the shroom shrinking all together but it doesn't look like that's happening.

I was thinking the same thing, so I tried doing several KFC dips on it, as well as some other dips. Tried lots of dips on 1, just multiple kfc on 1, and absolutely nothing to the other. I’ve never noticed any difference in the condition of all 3 with the different approaches. If I had another system I would consider isolating them. Maybe I’ll bring ‘em into the shop somewhere and stash them in a tank with no Euphyllia
