Water leak test on the carpet!?!
RIGHT!! i was thinking the same thing lol

Not sure how long that sand will stay like that before it mixes up with the white.
yep its going to right right in. Orbel you might as well mix it now to get it nice and even. otherwise it will just look like a cake swirl.

I had a mix of black and white a long time ago and ended up not liking the dirty look of it. I would suggest removing it all to be honest. Its really up to you though and what you like.

Orbel if finding sand was the issue, I have a bucket of dry sand that i removed and washed from my 180g that i had before. its dry now. might need to be rinsed again but its yours free if you want it.

it was a mix of fiji pink and special grade.

I thought of doing the mixed thing in the seahorse tank.. before you fill it up you can stand a piece of acrylic up between the colors to prevent most of the shifting. just the same height or a bit more than the level of the sand bed :)

I do have one but don't think it will work since this is more fine than soil, but I'll try screw it that's why we are in this hobby

I was thinking like a thin piece of acrylic sheeting, cut to size, as a "wall " between the colors :) Might work out.. looks cool though. I like it! :)

I've done it with a planted tank with two different substrates like you are describing and over time it will get mixed... looked cool at first though. With the flow in our reef tanks it will mix even quicker imo and a tall acrylic wall between the two would look funny and get dirty.

Yes I have extra dividers from my planted tanks too. I went ahead but warned the wife that it will possibly mix and looked nasty she wanted some black sand. Have to give her some input or else there goes my hobby.

Tank is cycled it was really quick!!! Used Live Rock and sand seems it cycled fast.
So question I have in QT the following fish
  • Yellow Tang
  • Mated Pair of Clownfish
  • B. CardinalFish
  • Blue Green Chromis
  • Yellowtail Demsel
  • Red Ruby Dragonet
  • Yellow Coris Wrasse
  • Green Coris Wrasse
  • Sixline Wrasse
In what order should I add them to the tank? Do I add every 2days or every week? Also should I exclude the demsels from the upgrade? They have been with me for a long time.

Is it safe to add shrimp?

I seen what you mean now about looking like dirt. the sand particle make it look greyish almost like faded black.
