I'm in the middle of building a tank. It's. 32 x. 32x48. My old tank is 32 tall but overflow is built on outside. I'm gonna build this one on inside. My ? Is what should the measurements be for box? Any ideas will be appreciated

What kind of overflow box are you planning on using?
Where is the tank drilled? (Bottom vs back)

Since you are building a brand new tank you have a ton of options on how to build the overflow, it just depends on your preference.

if you plan on drilling two 1.5" drains I would just make the box big enough for whatever type of overflow you want in there. Ultimately the drain size is most important but a box too small will cause the water to rise over the teeth.

Is thst best or is there a btr way
Search the forum or google "herbie overflow" or "bean animal style". Those are the two most people say are the best. Do some research on that and decide what kind of overflow you want. Then build the box based on what you decide

I would like to add that a "coast to coast" overflow on a back-drilled tank would give you some extra real estate on the tank's floor, instead of having a box type tower taking up space.

Check out reef savvy ghost overflow. They will be at RAP this weekend I believe. It is a new release product, but is incorporating ideas from glass-holes and the beananimal overflow style. It is on preorder right now and a little pricey, but it is a clean set up. All you will need to do is drill for 2-2" bulkheads on the side panel. Those bulkheads will hold the overflow. They have two sizes, 16" (2500gph) and 24" (4000gph). The 24" could act like a coast to coast overflow.
