Peppermint shrimp reef safe????

Woke up this morning to see 2 peppermint shrimp going to town on my acans. Are they just eating slime or are they doing damage? Here's a pic but it's not great cell pic and in moonlights. Let me know what I should do image.jpg !!!

hard to tell from the picture but are you certain that it's a pep shrimp and not a somewhat similar looking camel shrimp? camels are well known for eating certain types of corals while peps usually just eat either dying or dead flesh or also known as scavengers that will try and rip food away from coral polyps

Camel shrimps are pretty distinct looking... the red and white bands are pretty solid where as the peppermint shrimps have a transparent look to them.

But yeah I think they are opportunistic... maybe getting food or waste from the acan but could also do some damage in my opinion.

not in shnitzelvision they aren't. look above..i don't even think shnitz himself can say for certain what kind of shrimp it is in the pic.

So anyone know any tricks to catch these fellas
Take a small plastic water bottle cut a third of the way down from the top. Flip the piece you cut off and tape it back onto the bottle. Put some pellets in there and leave it in your tank. Works best at night

caught em just put a frozen cube in a net and they just went right in!!! Dummies ima keep them in my sump. they can keep it clean.
