I’ve got a fairly new biocube 16(bought it used)
This is my first coral in the tank after cycle. I really don’t want it to die!!
It’s spitting out brown stuff. I’ve only had it in the tank since Sunday. Had a heater fail so the temp fluctuated between 79-75

Does anyone know how to save it? Other people said it just looks like poop.
The polyp was fine an hour ago

I saw you post on Facebook, the pictures are very different. The one you posted over there it looked okay but here in this picture the polyps are way too retracted to be simply releasing waste

This will be a good lesson for you in not freaking out. This is probably going to die (for sure the right side), and you can't really do anything about it. Moving forward, give your tank more time to stabilize, and learn as much as you can regarding water chemistry.

It does look like it is dying. Polyp bail out might occur. Not sure what to do to fix it. Sorry
Check out the flesh towards the bottom looks like it’s fine might have just took a crap. What I do to make sure it’s not dying I take it out of the water and smell it. If it reeks it’s dying

No, I’m just looking for an answer that can keep it alive. I mean no disrespect

Many experienced reefers have told you it is dying. Take the lesson. Its unfortunate and sucks, especially being new to the hobby, but use this as an opportunity to learn, and not be discouraged. No silver bullet to the hobby, lots of good info out there.

look up pictures of brown jelly disease, that's probably what it is and afaik there isn't much to be done. some say an iodine dip might help, some frag off the healthy head. i've never been able to save anything that got brown jelly disease

Sorry, thank you guys for your help. I wasn’t going to put an expensive coral in first, it kind of fell into my lap

Same happened to me when I started my first tank, I bought a hammer and it got retracted, it didn’t dye but it took forever to recover, i feel my ph wasn’t stable, euphyllia corals can be difficult to keep happy when a tank is not mature, be patient, it takes time.
I will start with softies corals then LPS and later SPS corals

That was the plan, but I got an expensive torch for almost nothing. So it’s not like I’ll be out a bunch of money, but if I can keep it alive and grow it, I can sell frags later to help stock my tank. So in that aspect it’s important

Euphylia are slow growing, you'll have to wait some time before that can happen
